Love Commanded

Did you know love doesn't come natural. Love is an emotion we have to work at. "A new commandment I give unto you. That ye love one another; as I have loved you..." John 13:34 God gave us this commandment, like a command on the battlefield is so critical. If you don't obey a command you could lose your life or cost someone else theirs. If we lose battles in our daily life because we are not following the commandments God has for us we may not find victory.

It is only through training and teaching that we become better at love. "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God;...Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,...if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another...God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him...We love him, because he first loved us." 1 John 7: 7-19 If all is not right between us and the Lord, love is harder.

Choosing love is not as hard as it might seem. Take the alligator, when it hatches from the egg, it comes out fighting for life. If it feels threatened, it will bite you, but a baby alligator is the cutest. Now, let's not make it a surface love, let's love deep on purpose. For some, the only love they will ever know is the love they get here on earth. If they are not secure in their eternity then they have no hope of heaven. So the love we give may be some of the only love they know. For those that have a place in eternity, they are our brothers and sisters in Christ, therefore we are supposed to love our brother. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. 1 John 4:20-21

Take a minute or two today to consider the action of love. Lets make sure that we are loving the people that God has placed in our lives. Be the hands and feet for the Lord today and everyday. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1 John 4:12
