Pastor's Appreciation Day-The Lord's Teachers

Where should we turn when God is silent or when we find ourselves looking for clear answers? Where are we going to get the truth and knowledge to overcome these road blocks in life so that we can continue to progress forward?

Jeremiah 3:15

And I will give you pastors

according to mine heart,

which shall feed you with

knowledge and understanding.

When an individual decides to become a pastor, it is a great undertaking; It is much like putting yourself into the line of fire knowing that you will get hit. Pastors and their families are always under attack, their faith and what they believe in is constantly being questioned by critics and those who choose not to believe. They must always be ready to receive the worst of people even if they themselves are worn down by life's demands.

Over the course of more than two decades, my pastor has listened to me struggle with many of the same struggles and hardships, and yet he has never turned me down when I was in need of encouragement. He helped me see the value in my marriage when I was ready to quit, saving it from certain destruction. He guided me through some dark days and helped me see the light so that I could learn to walk with the Lord on my own. I would not be the person I am today without my pastor. He became more to me than just a pastor; he became my big brother in Christ and set an example of the kind of Christian I hoped to be.

There are not many days I don't think about his influence in my life, and then I see it; I see how Christ used him to reach me. If you are feeling lost and are seeking guidance, I pray that the Lord will send a pastor/teacher to lift you up and to show you Christ in a way like you have never seen him before. I would just caution you- make sure to not be deceived. There are false pastors and teachers that can set you on the wrong path. Make sure that you see Christ through them in their daily lives before you follow their advice.
