That moment when we loss control of what we thought we had control over. Someone or something has made it past our walls of protection and now the sensitive areas of our existence have been exposed. That situation that we believed would be okay, is no longer alright. When God says no, or the prayer doesn't seem to come in time.
Rock bottom is a hard place to be. When the hurts of life have overtaken our existence. God says his grace is sufficient, he says he will always be with us. But when we can't see or feel the grace and God seem nowhere to be found we must push through. The death of a loved one, a relationship broken, perhaps our sin has found us out. Whatever the cause of hurt, one thing in for sure. It sends us right back to the side of Christ.
Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
As hard as it may be to be thankful in any of these moments of life, it is exactly the right remedy. Even though we may have to force ourselves to rejoice or to pray, this is where we should push our thoughts and hearts to go. It may not "fix" the situation immediately, but it does allow us to begin the surrender that Christ is waiting for. The moment when we can agree with God that his will is our will too. To agree with him that we have fallen short in our expectations of life and we need to re-center our thoughts and hearts with Him.
Lord, thank you for the privilege of giving us a way to communicate with you. For hearing our cry's when life hurts and we feel lost. Draw close to us so that we know you haven't left and give us the peace to walk this road with you. Amen.
